The Nurse Informatics Specialist [NIS]
1857
Florence Nightingale was considered the first informatics nurse (Betts & Wright, 2003, as cited in Murray, 2010).
In 1857, she gathered data and analyzed the data, compiling reports to substantiate her argument of establishing a statistical team in the army (Saba, 2001). Furthermore, during the Crimean war, she created graphical representations to exhibit the causes of mortality of British soldiers (Murray, 2010).
